From Crack House to Pimp House
Every general contractor nightmare story you’ve either read or heard about? …
…We personally experienced firsthand.
At the end of 2006, we decided to take the plunge to remodel our home located on the San Francisco Peninsula. We had read many books and done all the things any diligent owner should do before choosing a general contractor for our job.
Barely two months into our home renovation, our general contractor skipped town on our project. At the time this happened, other stressful live events seemed to all come together at once like the perfect storm…
Undoubtedly, this experience was one of the deepest and longest nader points of our lives. Ironically, it coincided during the happiest and most joyous occasions my wife and I will ever experience - the birth of our little baby girl.
Looking back now - we were definitely very fortunate getting through this ordeal. I must say - getting your newly expanded family back into your home is a very powerful motivator. I’d like to think it brought out the best in us during our darkest hour in most recent times.
This blog is dedicated to anyone who is considering being their own general contractor on their home remodel project. I wouldn’t wish our experience upon anyone who didn’t know what they were getting into wanting to be their own general contractor on their own remodeling project.
